Aside from being gorgeous, they are incredibly smart. They love caching acorns for the winter, and because they often forget where they hide them, they are actually responsible for planting thousands of oak trees every single year!

It is a wonderful bird, Irma. It seems to me that it has adapted to human encroachment as a matter of necessity, as more of its habitat is destroyed. It seems to be a little less wary than was formerly the case. Great pictures! Very best wishes - David

BeantwoordenVerwijderenEichelhäher sind sehr schöne Vögel. Leider sieht man sie in unserer Gegend nicht sehr oft. Nur einmal, vor rund vier Jahren, ist es mir in einem nahe gelgenen Schlosspark gelungen, ein eher bescheidenes Foto (Eichelhäher von hinten und weit weg) aufzunehmen. Du kannst stolz sein auf deine wunderschönen, gestochen scharfen Fotos!
